Tips For Investors

It now seems inevitable that there will be changes to negative gearing – regardless of which political party seizes election day. With this in mind, here are some tips to ensure that you are one of the winners:

  1. Complete a Financial Wealth Check now to determine your current borrowing capacity.
  2. Re-assess your long term investment plans (update your FIDO with your Property Mentor).
  3. Fast forward your next property purchase to ensure you lock in the Grandfathering provision on negative gearing.
  4. Evaluate your overall portfolio, and the allowable negative gearing for future purchases (after changes take effect) for either scenario.
  5. Constantly check your properties’ rent to ensure it keeps pace with current market rents.
  6. Sign up to Kevin’s Rate Club to get his regular updates on interest rates. Simply email virginia.bergman@propertyclub.com.au and she will add you to the mailing list.
